National Hockey League Design Language System

Prior to my joining the NHL, there was no such thing as a brand book, style guide or some form of documentation for third party vendors to review. Or for the NHL to communicate learnings through iterative design. Or for the NHL to set rules and constraints on designs.  The NHL began authoring a full brand book, but it did not include substantial, useful information regarding design guidelines. This design language was intended to be a supplemental document to the NHL Brand Book and Guidelines. The aim of this guide was to provide general design instruction and direction in the how to use their design language. It also set groundwork for ADA AA-rated compliance under the WCAG 2.0 Guidelines.
